Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of the Clerk of the Board of Equalization, the Hearing Reporter provides assistance and support to the California State Board of Equalization (BOE) Board in its adjudication and administrative matters. The Hearing Reporter takes a verbatim transcript of Board meetings using a stenography machine. Prepares verbatim transcripts promptly to meet processing standards. Responsible for maintaining accurate records of all transcripts and day-of exhibits, and an accurate list of speakers. Performs incidental related clerical and stenographic work.

Ability to travel ten percent (10%) of the time, which will include overnight travel.

Currently, per the California Budget Act of 2025, all Board of Equalization salaries are subject to the provisions of the State of California’s Personal Leave Program.
