Civil Estimator

Red Hat Pro is hiring a Civil Estimator to price dry utilities, wet utilities, and heavy grading. We're the excavation side of the Bart's Electric family of companies. Same ownership, same culture, dirt instead of conduit. Here's the part most postings won't tell you: we're open on experience level. If you're early in your career and want to learn this side of the business, we'll teach you. If you've been running bids for twenty years, we'll hand you the keys. We'll build the role around what you bring. What you'd be doing You’ll take projects from plans and specs through takeoff, pricing, and bid submission using HeavyBid. Quantity takeoffs, building out cost data and production rates, soliciting and evaluating sub and supplier quotes, walking sites, attending pre-bids, and assembling complete bid packages. This is not a bid-only seat. Whoever fills it will also carry project management responsibilities on awarded work: buyout, scheduling, cost tracking, change orders, and coordinating with the field. We're looking for someone versatile who wants their hands in more than one thing. What we’re looking for Experience estimating or managing excavation and civil work, specifically dry utilities, wet utilities, or heavy grading Ability to read and interpret civil plans, specs, and site drawings HeavyBid experience, or the aptitude and drive to learn it fast Sharp attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple bid deadlines Someone who communicates clearly with subs, suppliers, GCs, and our own field crews Nice to have: self-perform civil or excavation background, Bluebeam or similar takeoff tools, prior project management experience, construction management or civil engineering coursework.
