Job Description

The Production Lead oversees daily manufacturing activities to ensure products are produced safely, efficiently, and in alignment with established quality standards. This role coordinates workflow on the production floor, supports and guides team members, and helps maintain smooth, consistent operations across all shifts. One Production Lead will oversee the Arils department, while another will oversee the Juice extraction department, both playing a key role in training, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily production activities in assigned area (Arils or Juice extraction) to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality operations.
• Coordinate workflow on the production floor to maintain a smooth and consistent operation across all shifts.
• Monitor hourly production metrics, including case counts, to ensure production targets and goals are achieved.
• Read and execute the daily run plan accurately to meet operational and scheduling requirements.
• Provide hands-on training, coaching, and guidance to new hires and returning team members on equipment operation and workflow procedures.
• Support team members on the production floor by answering questions, resolving issues, and ensuring they understand their tasks and responsibilities.
• Enforce adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and all company safety policies at all times.
• Promote and model a professional, respectful demeanor in all communications with staff and colleagues.
• Collaborate closely with the supervisor by promptly reporting any employee-related issues or concerns.
• Help maintain accurate inventory control through monitoring materials, finished goods, and related warehouse inventory processes as needed.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in production processes, efficiency, and safety, and support implementation of improvements.
• Ensure equipment and work areas remain organized, clean, and in compliance with quality and safety standards.
• Communicate clearly with other leads and supervisors to coordinate activities between departments and shifts.
• Support the safe operation of forklifts and other material-handling equipment, where applicable and qualified.
• Assist with cycle counts and inventory management activities to support accurate ERP system records.

• Ability to stand for long periods of time, with frequent reaching, bending, and turning.
• Ability to work in a cold and wet production environment.
• Ability to clearly communicate with other leads, supervisors, and team members.
• Ability to climb stairs and platforms safely as part of daily duties.
• Ability to watch fast-moving conveyors without experiencing motion sickness.
• Mechanical aptitude and comfort working around production machinery and equipment.
• Leadership capability with experience overseeing or guiding others preferred.
• Good verbal and written communication skills, with bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and commitment to following safety policies.
• Experience with production supervision or production management in a manufacturing setting.
• Ability to maintain a professional and respectful demeanor in all interactions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience operating forklifts in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
• Experience in inventory control, inventory management, and warehouse inventory processes.
• Experience performing cycle counts and supporting accurate inventory records.
• Familiarity with ERP systems used for production and inventory management.
• Experience in continuous improvement initiatives within a production environment.
• Prior leadership experience in a production or warehouse setting.
• Ability to train and mentor new hires and returning team members on equipment and workflow procedures.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bakersfield, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
