Job Title: Carpenter Foreman
Job Description

This hands-on Carpenter Foreman role leads field crews on commercial new construction projects, including schools and multifamily buildings. You will work with tools daily while overseeing carpenters and subcontractors, coordinating layout and scheduling, and ensuring work meets quality and safety standards. The role combines field leadership, technical carpentry expertise, and strong communication to keep projects running smoothly and on schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a crew of approximately 5–10 carpenters and subcontractors on commercial new construction projects, including school and multifamily builds.
  • Work as a hands-on foreman who actively wears tools and performs carpentry tasks such as framing and finish carpentry as needed.
  • Coordinate and assist with project layout to ensure accurate placement and installation of building components.
  • Support project scheduling activities by organizing daily tasks, sequencing work, and helping keep the project on time.
  • Conduct regular toolbox talks to communicate safety expectations, project updates, and daily work plans to the crew.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and construction documents to guide field operations and ensure work aligns with project plans.
  • Use Bluebeam and other construction technology to review drawings, details, and specifications for field execution.
  • Oversee the quality of work performed by carpenters and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to project standards and specifications.
  • Collaborate closely with the Superintendent to communicate progress, address issues, and implement solutions in the field.
  • Open and close the jobsite each day, ensuring the site is secure, organized, and ready for work.
  • Promote and enforce safe work practices on site, including proper use of equipment and adherence to safety guidelines.
  • Occasionally operate construction equipment such as forklifts, skid steers, scissor lifts, and boom lifts as needed for project activities.
Essential Skills
  • Proven experience in commercial construction, specifically on new build projects such as schools and multifamily developments.
  • Strong carpentry background, including both framing and finish carpentry in a commercial environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and supervising field crews, including carpenters and subcontractors, on active jobsites.
  • Ability to work as a hands-on foreman who is comfortable wearing tools and performing physical carpentry work.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and construction drawings.
  • Experience using Bluebeam or similar construction document software for reviewing plans and details.
  • Solid understanding of construction layout and the ability to assist with accurate field layout activities.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills to conduct toolbox talks and clearly direct daily work activities.
  • Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and support project scheduling in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Commitment to jobsite safety and adherence to safe work practices when supervising crews and operating equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience operating construction equipment such as forklifts, skid steers, scissor lifts, and boom lifts.
  • Certification from CITC or completion of a union carpentry apprenticeship program, preferred but not required.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 safety certification, preferred but not required.
  • background in roles such as assistant superintendent or similar field leadership positions is a plus.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a Superintendent and broader project team.
  • Strong sense of integrity, reliability, and accountability in managing people and work on site.

Work Environment

This role is based on active commercial new construction jobsites, including school and other commercial projects in the South Denver area. You will primarily work outdoors and in partially enclosed structures, often in varying weather conditions typical of a construction environment. The position requires being on site to open and close the project each day, with a typical workweek of approximately 50–60 hours. You will work closely with the Superintendent and coordinate daily with carpenters, subcontractors, and other field personnel. The environment is fast-paced and tool-intensive, with regular use of carpentry tools and occasional operation of equipment such as forklifts, skid steers, scissor lifts, and boom lifts. Standard construction site attire and appropriate personal protective equipment are expected at all times.

This is a Contract position based out of Englewood, CO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $45.00/hr.
