Clinical Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care Unit (PCU)Shift: Full-Time, DaysPosition Summary: The Clinical Nurse (RN) reflects the mission, vision, and values of Indiana University Health, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory and accreditation standards. The registered professional nurse is accountable and responsible for the provision and coordination of competent, evidence-based care across the care continuum, including assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The Clinical Nurse participates in decision-making, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to advance the patient plan of care, achieve outcomes, and enhance operational efficiency. The nurse practices in accordance with the ANA Scope and Standards of Professional Nursing and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements.Unit Description – Progressive Care Unit (PCU): IU Arnett's Progressive Care Unit is a 27-bed non-surgical progressive care unit that includes IU Arnett's Rapid Response Bed. The PCU team provides compassionate, high-quality care to patients with complex medical and cardiac conditions. The team also includes a Paramedic who assists with patient transport to and from procedures and diagnostic testing Monday through Friday.Patient populations include but are not limited to:NSTEMICardiogenic shockPulmonary embolism (pre-intervention)Cardiac catheterization patientsPost-CABG and open-heart surgery recoveryHeart failureRespiratory failureSepsisDiabetic ketoacidosis (DKA)Atrial fibrillation ablationWatchman and other percutaneous intervention patientsNursing Skills Gained:Patient care assessment and monitoringAssistance with bedside procedures including central line placement, cardioversion, and EGDEnd-of-life care and patient and family advocacyCross-training opportunities to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU)Unit Achievements:Multiple DAISY Award recipientsTwo DAISY Award recipients in 2025Highest inpatient satisfaction scores in 2025Excellent patient outcomesThree years CLABSI-freeOne and a half years CAUTI-freeUnit Culture Highlights:Support for nurses through continuing educationICU cross-training opportunitiesPCU Mentorship and Engagement CommitteePCU Education CouncilProfessional Practice CouncilQualifications:Education:Requires an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferredThe Registered Nurse must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing programExceptions:Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experienceExceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)Licensure:Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN licenseCertifications:Requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart AssociationAdditional advanced life support certifications may be required per unit or department specialty according to patient care policiesWhy Join IU Health?
