Senior Mortgage Consultant, Construction Originator

The Senior Mortgage Consultant, Construction Originator focuses on origination of the credit unions construction product as well as the rehabilitation loan product. This position will handle all internal referrals of members looking to do construction and rehabilitation loans. The position will also develop relationships with referral sources outside of the credit union to obtain construction business that otherwise would not be available to the credit union.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Originate construction loans and rehabilitation loans via internal referrals, all internal construction inquiries will be funneled through this position.
2. Procure construction loans through resources outside of the credit union, such as but not limited to, Real Estate Agents, Builders, Financial Advisors, etc.
3. Originate all other loan products as needed.
4. Cross sell other credit union products while bringing on new members.
5. Collect personal information accessing members credit, income, financial history and ability to explain the loan process to applicants.
6. Utilize multiple mortgage related software programs to determine members ability to borrow and pay back the mortgage obligation.
7. Promote honest and open communication with the member and throughout the credit union.
8. Demonstrate behaviors that are consistent with the credit unions values, philosophies, and leadership characteristics.
9. Work with other credit union departments to insure the workflow or process is providing the best service to the members.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required, Bachelors degree preferred.
• Five (5) or more years of experience as a mortgage originator, with at least 1 year experience originating construction loans.
• Proof of mortgage production history may be required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Proficient knowledge of all mortgage loan products.
• Proficient knowledge of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and FHA/VA/USDA Guidelines.
• Working knowledge of Origination Software Systems.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
• Ability to resolve interpersonal conflict and miscommunications.
• Knowledge of spreadsheet software and ability to use word processing software.
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
• Must be able to be bonded.
• Must have strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to project a high degree of professionalism and positive image of themselves and the credit union.
• Demonstrates a proficiency of sales aptitude, strategies and techniques.
• Must be willing and able to implement a Business/Marketing plan.
• Must have or be able to obtain NMLS Registration and complete required annual training to maintain registration.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Familiarity with Encompass is preferred
