Structural Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a Professional Engineer (PE) – Structural Engineer with 5+ years of structural design experience and a strong background in rail and transit infrastructure projects . The ideal candidate will have experience working with transportation agencies such as MTA, LIRR, Metro-North, NJ TRANSIT, NJTA , or similar public-sector transportation authorities.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis, design, and engineering calculations for rail and transit infrastructure projects.
• Design and evaluate bridges, stations, platforms, retaining walls, pedestrian structures, and transportation facilities .
• Prepare structural drawings, calculations, specifications, reports, and technical documentation.
• Perform structural assessments and rehabilitation design for existing structures.
• Coordinate structural designs with civil, architectural, MEP, transportation, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Review construction documents, shop drawings, RFIs, and contractor submittals.
• Support field investigations, site inspections, and existing-condition assessments.
• Ensure designs comply with AASHTO, AREMA, NYSDOT, MTA/LIRR, NJ TRANSIT, NJTA , and applicable building codes and standards.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, and agency representatives.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support project managers.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Minimum 5+ years of structural engineering and design experience.
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Strong experience in rail, transit, transportation, or infrastructure projects .
• Experience with MTA, LIRR, Metro-North, NJ TRANSIT, NJTA , or similar agencies strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit, STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, ETABS , or similar structural engineering software.
• Strong knowledge of structural design codes, standards, and specifications.
• Excellent communication, technical documentation, and project coordination skills.
