Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Travel Registered Nurse (RN) for the Labor & Delivery (L&D) unit. The ideal candidate will have recent experience caring for antepartum, intrapartum, and immediate postpartum patients while providing compassionate, high-quality care throughout the childbirth process. The L&D RN will collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe maternal and newborn outcomes.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period.
• Assess and monitor maternal and fetal well-being throughout labor using fetal monitoring and clinical assessments.
• Administer medications, IV therapy, epidurals, oxytocin, magnesium sulfate, and other treatments as prescribed.
• Assist with vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, inductions, and obstetric emergencies.
• Recognize and respond promptly to maternal or fetal complications, including hemorrhage, fetal distress, and hypertensive disorders.
• Educate patients and families on labor, delivery, newborn care, breastfeeding, postpartum recovery, and discharge instructions.
• Collaborate with physicians, certified nurse midwives, anesthesiologists, neonatal teams, and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans.
• Provide emotional support and patient advocacy throughout the childbirth experience.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Adhere to infection prevention, patient safety, and hospital policies and procedures.
• Float to postpartum, mother-baby, or other women's services units based on competency and facility needs, if required.
