Nursing Faculty - Academic Program Coordinator (26521)

Job Summary Combined position, 30% academic program coordinator and 70% nursing faculty duties, MSN and BSN programs. The Academic Program Coordinator collaborates with the Director of Nursing and MSN and BSN Program Directors for oversight of graduate and undergraduate curriculum and program policy relevancy, currency, and revision needs based in regulatory and accreditation requirements. Additional responsibilities include service on the Curriculum and Evaluation Committees, participation in state boards of nursing compliance and CCNE accreditation activities, to include data collection and monitoring for compliance with the Nursing Program Evaluation Plan (NPEP). The Academic Program Coordinator participates in orienting and mentoring of new faculty, and in faculty training. Essential Functions of the Job Nursing Teaching Faculty Teach 7 courses per year (70% teaching load) Teaching Load: Responsible for generating and delivering classroom learning experiences and clinical skills instruction within the basic medical and clinical science topics based on the individual’s qualifications. Course assignments to be determined in collaboration with the Director of the Nursing Program, School Dean, and individual faculty, according to unit and university requirements. Teaching Standards: Maintain a high standard in classroom teaching through engaging and effective pedagogy, exhibiting awareness and understanding of best practices in graduate education through application in the classroom, simulation lab, and remaining current with issues, curriculum, and classroom approaches in the discipline. Accreditation: Actively participates in the accreditation process, compliance, and adherence to the KBOR, ACEN and CCNE standards. Curriculum: Design, implement, coordinate, and evaluate the curriculum. Revise the curriculum based on Nursing profession competencies, entry‑level practice, and ongoing professional practice. Assessment and Remediation: Evaluate learner performance. Provide remediation instruction. Maintain effective curricula through participation in university‑wide assessment processes. Admissions: Participate in the program’s admissions process, which includes recruitment and selection. Programmatic: Participate in the development, review, and revision of the mission statement, program goals, and competencies as indicated. Participate in evaluating the program. Program Self‑Assessment and Evaluation: Participate in programmatic data collection and critical analysis, as well as apply the analysis results to create action plans and identify strengths, areas needing improvement, and weaknesses in the curriculum. Advising: Attend to learner needs and concerns as an advisor. Work with each faculty advisor to identify and develop opportunities for each learner to succeed through assessment and remediation. Provide academic counseling to learners. Collaborate as needed in scheduling courses, addressing academic concerns, and supporting efforts in retention. Scholarship: Maintain awareness of contemporary trends and evolving knowledge within one’s academic discipline and in the liberal arts through research, creative work, writing, conference attendance (either virtually or at designated location), public presentations (in‑person and virtually), and other involvement in the regional and national community of the Nursing profession and higher education professionals. Service: a) Participate in local, state, and national service to the Nursing profession and/or in higher learning. b) Collaborate in addressing academic concerns (such as, but not limited to, serving on program committees). c) Participate in Campus and University‑wide committee work, including ongoing committees, program assessments, task‑oriented committees or task forces, and other projects or committees as requested by the Director of the Nursing Program. d) Participate mentoring, and development of new faculty as needed. e) Participate in campus and university‑wide governance by responding to and engaging in dialogue related to academic issues across the university. Academic Program Coordinator (20%) Collaborates with the Director of Nursing and Program Directors for monitoring of BSN and MSN curriculum and curriculum delivery, for relevancy, currency, and effectiveness. Participates in curriculum and curriculum delivery revisions as needed. Collaborates with the Director of Nursing and Program Directors for monitoring and analysis of NPEP (Nursing Program Evaluation Plan) outcomes for compliance with state Board of Nursing regulations and CCNE accreditation requirements. Participates in state Board of Nursing and CCNE accreditation survey preparation and survey activities. Serves on the Nursing program Curriculum and Evaluation committees. Participates in orienting and mentoring of new faculty, and faculty training, as assigned. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Education: MSN Degree required, Doctorate degree in Nursing preferred. Licensure: current license as Registered Nurse in Kansas and Missouri. Required Experience: 3-5 years related work experience in higher Nursing Education. Additional Eligibility Requirements: Experience with nursing academic programs, activities, and policies in a higher education setting, preferably in both graduate and undergraduate programs. Experience with state Board of Nursing regulatory and nursing accreditation requirements. Effective communication and interpersonal skill in a variety of settings. Demonstrated ability for accuracy, organization and attention to detail. Demonstrated sound judgment and a strong work ethic. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others, modeling positive attitude and behaviors. Experience and expertise with Microsoft Office suite software and various databases. Demonstrated ability to multi‑task activities with sometimes conflicting and varying priorities. Working Conditions Prolonged periods of sitting. Must be able to lift 5-15 pounds at times. May require use of building stairs. May require evening and/or weekend work. Position sits and works in front of a computer screen and/or assists students. Travel Requirements Yes - Travel Required.
