The City of Perry, Georgia, operates under a Council-Manager form of government, which it adopted in 1986. This structure splits responsibilities between elected officials who establish policy and a professional City Manager who handles day-to-day operations.

The City of Perry, Georgia is seeking a forward-thinking, highly skilled Public Works Director to support the city's continued growth and help maintain its reputation as a vibrant and well-managed community in Middle Georgia. Reporting directly to the City Manager, this key leadership role is responsible for overseeing the planning, operation, and maintenance of the city's public infrastructure, ensuring reliable services and long-term sustainability.

The Director will lead all public works functions, including streets, stormwater, utilities, fleet, facilities, and capital improvement projects. This position plays a critical role in developing and implementing infrastructure plans, managing departmental operations, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The Director will also work closely with contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver projects efficiently and effectively.

• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, elected officials, and the public.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze issues, prioritize work, and make sound decisions.
• Knowledge of applicable safety regulations and guidelines.
• Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and safety standards.
• Proven leadership skills with experience in supervision and employee development.

Salary

The salary for this position is $107,600.
