Current Hydro is entering a critical growth phase. Over the past year, we've rapidly expanded our team and are now advancing a portfolio of projects toward construction. This is a pivotal momentwhere development transitions into executionand requires strong project leadership to deliver with discipline, speed, and accountability.
As a Project Manager, you will own project delivery from development through construction, serving as the central point of accountability for scope, schedule, cost, and risk. You'll ensure continuity across licensing, engineering, and constructiondriving alignment, maintaining momentum, and avoiding resets as projects move into execution. This role is about owning outcomes, not just managing task.
The Opportunity
Current Hydro is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead delivery of hydropower projects through construction. This role is responsible for coordinating across engineering, contractors, vendors, and agency stakeholders to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in line with plan.
This is a high-visibility, high-impact role with direct responsibility for delivering projects that have been in development for years. You will:
- Lead delivery of flagship projects that expand access to clean, reliable energy to the grid and the communities we serve.
- Drive execution across an integrated lifecycle, aligning licensing, design, procurement, and construction in an EPC-style delivery model.
- Ensure disciplined project performance, actively managing schedule (critical path), cost, risk, and contractor execution.
- Work directly with key stakeholders, including USACE, FERC, contractors, and local partners, to maintain alignment and resolve issues quickly.
- Deliver meaningful community impact, creating long-term jobs, economic development, and enhanced recreational access.
- Grow with the platform, taking on increasing responsibility across a pipeline of projects in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Responsibilities
- Own full lifecycle project delivery (licensing through construction) as the single point of accountability for scope, schedule, cost, and risk, with full ownership of project status, priorities, and outcomes.
- Actively manage execution against the schedule, understanding critical path, key dependencies, and milestone drivers; ensure alignment between internal teams, third-parties, and field execution.
- Manage internal engineering and external partners (EPC-style execution), aligning design, procurement, and vendor performance with project objectives and timelines.
- Lead proactive project coordination and communication, including structured meetings, clear action tracking, and timely escalation of issues to maintain momentum and avoid surprises.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including USACE, FERC, resource agencies, contractors, and local partners, ensuring alignment and timely decision-making.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks proactively, including permitting, engineering, supply chain, construction, and regulatory risks, with a focus on protecting the critical path.
- Own project financial performance, including development of forecasts, monthly variance reporting, invoice and change order management, and ensuring cost tracking reflects actual project conditions.
- Provide clear, concise reporting to senior leadership and the Board on project status, risks, schedule performance, and financial outlook
- Mentor and support project managers and team members, reinforcing accountability, proactive ownership, and a culture of executional excellence.
- Apply technical judgment to project decisions, including interpreting designs, evaluating construction approaches, and advising on equipment, vendors, and key capital investments.
- Drive a safety-first culture, promoting incident-free project delivery across all phases of work.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or related technical field; advanced degree or PMP a plus.
- Minimum of 6 years of project delivery experience, with at least 3 years in renewable energy or infrastructure.
- Proven experience in delivering complex infrastructure projects, ideally in hydropower, water resources, or heavy civil construction.
- Strong construction execution mindset with a demonstrated commitment to safety performance.
- Working knowledge of project controls tools (MS Project, P6, or similar) and scheduling principles, including critical path management.
- Experience managing projects in small, cross-functional teams, applying practical methodologies as needed.
- High ownership and accountability mindsetproactively identifies issues, drives resolution, and looks for ways to add value.
- Intellectually curious and preparedproactively seeks understanding, asks the right questions, and does the work to stay ahead of the issue.
- Strong communicator and collaborator, able to coordinate across internal teams, contractors, and agency stakeholders.
- Able to manage multiple priorities under pressure while maintaining attention to detail and follow-through.
- Experience working with federal agencies (e.g., USACE, FERC) preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
This role offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits. Compensation is based on the range outlined below and is determined by several factors, including a candidate's background, experience, location, and performance.
Salary Range
$115,000-$175,000 per year
