Field Service Technician

Field Service Technician Status: Non-Exempt (hourly) Department: Field Service The Field Service Technician will support our fuel cell products currently installed in electric lift trucks, performing preventative maintenance and resolving breakdowns. The role includes installation, servicing, parts ordering, and reporting of fuel cell systems at specific customer locations. The position requires excellent technical skills as well as strong communication, interpersonal, and motivational abilities. Core Duties and Responsibilities Maintenance and service of fuel cells at customer sites. Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and evaluations to maintain the fleet. Perform specialized service procedures, including field retrofits and software and hardware upgrades to existing fuel cells. Provide on-call and emergency support service to customers as required. Purchase tools, equipment, and parts for customer service and support as needed. Troubleshoot and maintain high‑pressure hydrogen storage, 480VAC, flammability, cryogenic liquid, high‑pressure gas, and fueling systems as required. Maintain ongoing communication with customer personnel and hydrogen suppliers regarding aftermarket support of fuel cells. Provide regular feedback to regional service representatives regarding fuel cell performance and field maintenance issues. Complete administrative duties and documentation, including incident reports, service logs, inventory maintenance, and site and system documentation. Exhibit and enforce safety procedures in the field or at customer sites. Travel as required for business needs; drive safely and comply with all traffic laws. Represent Plug Power in a professional manner at all times and in all interactions. Perform other duties as assigned. Education and Experience Minimum high school diploma or equivalent with technical electrical coursework. Three or more years of direct experience in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting. Formal training and education may be considered in lieu of direct experience. Valid driver license, clean driving record, and ability to safely operate a motor vehicle. Ability to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis without assistance. Knowledge of lift truck operation and applications is highly preferred. General mechanical aptitude required. Computer and software systems skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) applicable to the position. Punctual and reliable. Technician must provide own standard set of tools; specific fuel cell tools will be provided by Plug Power. Pay Rate: $24.50 – $28.50 per hour. Benefits Base salary determined by education, experience, skills, and geography. Pay range may not include local geographic pay variations.
