Registered Nurse OB Case Manager

The Registered Nurse (RN) - OB Case Manager provides comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care in an outpatient obstetrics clinic setting. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care; administering medications and treatments; performing clinical procedures; and coordinating care in collaboration with providers and interdisciplinary teams. The RN ensures quality outcomes, patient safety, and culturally responsive care while maintaining accurate documentation and adhering to regulatory standards in a fast-paced ambulatory environment. An active Alaska RN license and OB case management experience are required. Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized nursing care plans.
- Implement and evaluate nursing interventions and patient responses.
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately per provider orders and policies.
- Recognize changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions or escalation of care.
- Provide patient and family education related to care, medications, and discharge planning.
- Deliver culturally responsive, patient-centered care across the lifespan.
- Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care and facilitate referrals and follow-up.
- Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely in the electronic health record.
- Advocate for patients and assist them in navigating the healthcare system.
- Maintain required competencies, certifications, and participate in quality improvement activities.
- Report adverse events, near misses, and unsafe conditions according to policy.
- Provide guidance and delegation to ancillary staff and support orientation and mentoring of staff and students.
- Adhere to infection control policies and maintain a clean, safe working environment.
- Float to other departments or assignments as needed.
- Current full, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Alaska (active at time of submittal).
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, including OB case management experience.
- Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and nursing judgment skills.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced ambulatory care environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field.
- Case Management certification.
- Experience in ambulatory or outpatient clinic nursing.
- Must have active Alaska RN license at time of application and employment.
- Agency staff responsible for securing their own housing and transportation; no housing or transportation provided.
- Compliance with Alaska Board of Nursing scope of practice and agency policies.
- Adherence to infection control and regulatory standards.
- Work is performed in an outpatient clinic setting; shifts and hours may be determined by clinic needs.
- Start date contingent upon timely submission and processing of fingerprint cards.
- May include floating to other departments as needed.
