Maintenance Supervisor

Job Overview Maintenance Supervisor at our meat packing plant in Lodi, NJ. First‑shift leadership position overseeing our maintenance team and machinery. Shift: First Shift (4:00 AM – 2:00 PM), Monday – Friday. Pay Rate: $50.00 – $60.00 per hour. Salary: $100,000 – $130,000 per year. Responsibilities Lead and schedule a team of maintenance mechanics on the floor. Coordinate with production and sanitation teams during shift changes. Oversee repairs and preventive maintenance on meat processing machinery (grinders, blenders, conveyors, vacuum packaging). Oversee and execute preventive, predictive, and emergency maintenance on specialized meat processing and packaging machinery (grinders, blenders, formers, conveyors, vacuum systems). Lead, mentor, and assign daily tasks to a team of 3 maintenance technicians and mechanics during the 1st shift (4:00 AM – 2:00 PM). Coordinate seamless shift handovers and equipment changeovers by collaborating closely with Production, Operations, and Sanitation teams. Serve as the primary technical escalation point for troubleshooting complex mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical failures. Strictly enforce plant safety and compliance standards, including OSHA, USDA, GMP, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) regulations. Make sure the team follows OSHA, USDA, and Lockout/Tagout safety rules. Manage the facility CMMS to track work orders, log equipment histories, manage spare parts inventory, and maintain union/company documentation compliance. Keep track of work orders and spare parts inventory. Support the installation, testing, and commissioning of new facility equipment and production lines. Monitor shift performance, manage technician scheduling, and optimize equipment uptime to meet plant KPIs. Essential Functions manual lifting up to 50 lbs standing for 8 hours at one time Key Qualifications and Skills 4+ years of industrial maintenance experience (food or meat processing experience preferred). Experience working as a supervisor, team lead, or senior mechanic. Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical troubleshooting. Ability to read blueprints and equipment manuals. Ability to work in a cold, wet plant environment and lift up to 50 lbs. English/Spanish language skills are helpful. USDA Compliance experience of at least 5 years. GMP compliance experience of at least 5 years. Lockout/Tagout knowledge. Preventive maintenance expertise. Pneumatics and hydraulics knowledge. Food Packaging Equipment experience of at least 5 years. Years of experience: 10 years (experienced level).
