About Us
School of Rock is the largest after-school music education provider in the world, with more than 400 locations.
At School of Rock Princeton, students take private lessons, rehearse in bands, and perform live shows throughout the year. We put on shows to teach music.
The RoleWe are hiring a Keyboard / Piano Instructor to teach students of various ages and experience levels.
This position is ideal for a working musician seeking steady, part-time income in a performance-focused environment. Experience playing in bands and accompanying other musicians is strongly preferred.
Teaching hours typically include:Weekdays between 2:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Weekend lesson and rehearsal hours
Weekend availability is preferred but not required. We offer flexible scheduling within our teaching hours.
ResponsibilitiesTeach private keyboard and piano lessons
Coach students in band rehearsals
Prepare students for live performances
Write lesson notes in our Method App
Communicate progress with familiesHelp maintain lesson and rehearsal spaces
These duties are considered essential functions of the position. We manage billing and scheduling so instructors can focus on teaching.
RequirementsAbility to teach keyboard and piano across multiple age groups and skill levels
2+ years teaching and/or professional performance experience preferred
Working knowledge of music theory
Ability to teach contemporary styles (rock, pop, alternative, etc.)
Strong communication and organizational skills
Reliable and professional demeanorMust pass a background screening prior to training
Physical RequirementsThis role includes light to moderate physical activity, including moving equipment as needed for lessons and rehearsals.
Instructors must be able to sit or stand for extended periods and work in an amplified music environment while following sound safety protocols.
