Product Development Technician

Job Title: Product Development Technician Location: Madison Heights, MI Work Model: Onsite Hours: M-F part-time, 15-20 hrs/wk, flexible schedule Compensation: $25.00 - $27.00/hr Type: 12‑month contract Responsibilities This is a laboratory-based position focused on mixing of laboratory size adhesive formulations and executing testing plans for the development of new and replacement products. Responsibilities include preparing tests according to customer specifications and internal test methods, completing timely testing to record and obtain data for assigned projects, and producing reliable, replicable data. Read and utilize dial calipers, micrometers, and standard shop measuring tools. Set up, calibrate, operate, monitor, and troubleshoot testing equipment. Apply basic laboratory techniques to perform routine and non-routine tests with limited supervision. Mixing of laboratory size adhesive formulations using different mixing equipment with limited supervision. Collect and analyze data. Enter accurate data into lab management system, computer databases, and test reports. Understand and perform mathematical and statistical functions. Prepare data reports, graphs, and charts as requested. Demonstrate creativity with new ideas, suggest efficiency improvements, and make recommendations to enhance procedures. Follow proper material storage, handling, and disposal procedures for hazardous waste materials. Follow SHE and 5S guidelines. Requirements Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree, with at least two years of college chemistry or related science courses. Previous laboratory experience is highly desirable. Proficient in routine mathematics, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Experience with basic tool manipulation, including mixing equipment, lab glassware, testing machines, and standard lab tools. Skilled in manipulating and graphing data and reporting experimental work. Experience working in a team environment and managing multiple projects. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
