Registered Nurse - Cardiac Observation Unit

Schedule

This position includes varying shifts: 3 x 12-hour shifts on days, with shift times of 06:00-18:30, 07:00-19:30, or 08:00-20:30. Call requirements are rotational and include approximately once every six weeks, occasionally as frequent as once every four weeks, covering Saturday and Sunday.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the Cardiac Observation Unit (COU) plays a vital role in providing high-quality care for patients pre and post Cath Lab procedures. This position is critical in evaluating, planning, implementing, and documenting nursing care for high risk, high acuity patients.

Responsibilities

• Admit and prepare patients for Cath procedures, including charting pre-procedure checklists and IV starts.
• Prepare patients for Cardioversions (CV) and Transesophageal Echocardiograms (TEE).
• Recover patients following catheterization under conscious sedation.
• Assist in sedation, circulation, and documentation of bedside procedures, including CV and TEE.
• Discharge patients with proper teaching and documentation.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must hold an RN license in Arizona or a compact state license.
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications are required.
• Experience in PACU, ICU, telemetry, Cath Lab, or surgery center will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
