Instrumentation Technician

Midland, TX, United States Job Description Performs the majority of I&E duties above 55 Volts AC/DC up to 4160 Volts AC/DC with minimal supervision. Installs pneumatic tubing, electrical, and electronic installations on equipment in the production area. Responsibilities Maintains a safe and well-organized work environment. Perform Minor Electrical repairs and installs alone or as part of a team. Completes and submits required documentation in an accurate and timely fashion. Utilize on the job training of all shop mechanic personnel. Install pneumatic tubing, layout tubing on skids, and connect to end devices. Fabricate bracket braces and instrument racks. Install wire and cable laid by hand, and in cable trays. Assist with changes to panel selection, wiring, etc. Maintain a file of installation design and technique for new units through pictures and diagrams. Test control panels and make connections in compliance with 10lb pull tests. Perform unit certification, final inspection, and test document. Make final electrical connections after installation of conduit and tubing. Non-Essential Duties: Performs other duties as assigned. All employees shall be in compliance with the Archrock Health Safety and Environmental Policy and local, statutory and/or regulatory requirements at all times. Qualifications Skills and Abilities: Ability to: Perform all assigned duties. Troubleshoot and resolve problems arising during the test cycle. Troubleshoot motor controls (energized). Read blueprints and read/interpret NEC. Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. Read General Adjustment and P&ID drawings. Communicate with suppliers of electrical components to design hook-ups on panels. Assist with mechanical assembly. Comply with all applicable safety and environmental policies and procedures. Knowledge: Moderate understanding of compression service and functionality to understand customer needs. Familiarity with MCC and switchgear. Working knowledge of end devices and system flow. Minimum Education and Certification: High school diploma or equivalent. Technical training preferred. 1-3 year related experience. 2 years of electrical experience. Some experience in the area of electronics. Leadership: May serve as a resource to others with less experience Physical Demands: (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions) Must be fit for duty for the job tasks being performed. Must meet the medical requirements necessary to wear PPE required by role (includes respiratory protection medical requirements as required by role). Constantly required to display good manual dexterity and to reach with hands and arms. Constantly required to talk and hear. Frequently required to sit while driving or using a PC. Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, squat, and twist with good balance. Regularly required to lift, move and carry up to 50 pounds and to push and pull up to 110 pounds. Occasionally required to carry at least 40 pounds with one hand for at least 10 feet. Occasionally required to crawl, climb in and around equipment, stairs and vertical ladders. Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Problem Solving and Innovation: Problems vary, but can usually be identified easily. Develops solutions to problems of limited scope, low complexity, or with precedents. May suggest and implement process improvements within the scope of the role. Impact: Actions and decisions impact operational results in a work group or a project team.
