Job TitleCivil EngineerJob DescriptionReporting directly to an assigned Engineer, responsible for providing technical civil engineering assistance to support various engineering projects for the Williamson County Department of Infrastructure.Examples Of Work PerformedAll engineering analysis and design activities will be performed under the supervision of a Texas Professional EngineerProvides civil engineering designs for street and drainage improvementsProduces detailed engineering drawings and reports to support activities associated with street and drainage construction and/or improvementsProduces hydrologic / hydraulic studies that include flood plain analysis, detention pond and storm sewer design / analysis and culvert / bridge analysisProvides engineering review of subdivision plats, construction plans and site development plans to ascertain their compliance with the County's Subdivision RegulationsProvides information to the public regarding development processes and permitsAssists and answers questions from field crews and inspectors related to street and drainage construction activitiesCommunicates with other county employees, external agencies, and the general public.Readily complies with departmental and county-wide policies and proceduresUnderstands and follows oral and written instructionsAttends all meetings and trainings, as requiredPerforms special duties as assignedOrganization RelationshipsReports directly to – An Assigned EngineerDirect Reports – NoPhysical DemandsPosition involves prolonged sitting at a workstation, visual examination of documents, reaching, walking, twisting, bending, standing and occasional lifting/carryingPosition involves safely operating a motor vehicleEnvironmental FactorsIndoor and outdoor work in all environments, including inclement weatherTravel between work sites is requiredExposure to dust, chemicals, fumes, bacteria, fungus and high noise levelsIrregular HoursWork outside of the normal office hours (Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) may be requiredMay be deemed essential personnel in the event of an emergencyRegular attendance is requiredMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related fieldEIT (Engineer In Training) Certification; OR Master's degree in Civil Engineering and ability to obtain EIT certification within fourteen (14) months of employmentLicenses And CertificationsRequired within thirty (30) days of employmentValid Texas driver's licensePreferred QualificationsMaster's degree in Civil Engineering or related fieldTwo (2) year of Civil Engineering related experienceEmployment TestingEmployment is contingent on passing any post-offer pre-employment screening as listed below:Criminal background check: YesMotor Vehicle Record check: YesDrug screening: YesPhysical exam: NoPsychological exam: NoAdditional: N/ASupplemental InformationA Williamson County online application (resumes alone are not sufficient) must be received before the position is closed.
