Travel Physical Therapist Job Details

• End Date: February 8, 2027
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,260–$2,430
• Schedule: Day shifts; 4x10-hour shifts or 5x8-hour shifts, with weekend coverage as needed
• Shift Duration: 10 hours for the 4x10 schedule, generally 7:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
• Patient Population: Adolescents, adults, geriatrics, and some pediatric patients
• Typical Volume: Approximately 5 visits per day

Physical Therapist Job Requirements

• Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree or equivalent accredited physical therapy degree
• Current New Mexico Physical Therapist license, or eligibility to obtain a license; a license may be pending at submission
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• New graduates and Physical Therapists with less than one year of experience may be considered with strong outpatient and inpatient clinical experience
• Previous travel physical therapy experience required; first-time travelers are not eligible for this assignment
• Experience or clinical competence in outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation preferred
• Experience with manual therapy, myofascial release, and pain neuroscience education preferred
• Familiarity with electronic documentation systems, including Cerner, preferred
• Ability to meet required immunization and occupational health standards, including COVID-19 and influenza vaccination requirements

Physical Therapy Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and develop individualized physical therapy treatment plans based on clinical findings, functional goals, and medical history
• Provide outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation services across orthopedic and neurological diagnoses
• Treat patients recovering from total knee replacement, total hip replacement, back surgery, and rotator cuff conditions
• Support patients with Parkinson’s disease, post-stroke deficits, neural impingement, gait dysfunction, balance disorders, vertigo, falls, fibromyalgia, and pain-related conditions
• Perform therapeutic exercises, functional mobility training, gait and balance interventions, and patient education
• Apply appropriate manual therapy techniques, including myofascial release, as clinically indicated
• Use available modalities such as ultrasound and electrical stimulation when appropriate
• Coordinate care with physical therapy staff, interpretation services, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary resources
• Document evaluations, progress, treatment responses, and discharge recommendations accurately and promptly
• Provide safe, compassionate, and patient-centered care while supporting continuity across outpatient and inpatient settings
