PayPal's Digital Wallet Engineering Team is looking for a Software Engineer with expertise delivering code for the personalization platform systems and components. You will work in a fast-paced environment where continuous innovations and experimentations are a given. We want people who are highly technical, with a solid understanding of the e-commerce domain, and well-versed in software implementation. We teach and learn from one another and push each other to be at our creative and analytical bests.

Our Digital Wallet Engineering Team is looking for the best Software Engineers in the world, who have a passion for developing massively scalable, distributed software systems that require high availability to support mission-critical business tasks. Quality is at the forefront of everything our team does, and we are looking for true passion for writing robust, re-usable, scalable and well-tested code.

• Lead engineering effort(s), taking ownership of multiple larger project features, modules, or services.
• Ability to craft the long-term technology strategy or vision for the team.
• Tackle the most complicated problems in terms of technology and business.
• Ability to represent the personalization platform to the PayPal organization.
• Mentor juniors in the team and help them to sharpen their technical finesse.
• Ability to reduce tech debt and have a plan to remove them from the system.
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision in a team to define, design, implement, test, release rollout, and support software applications for PayPal.
• Work with business units to crystallize business needs into product features.
• Work with engineering managers, engineers & QA to develop innovative solutions that meet market needs (functionality, performance, reliability, realistic implementations schedules, and adherence to development goals and principles).
• Develop new team capabilities to ensure continued competence and relevance in supporting the software development needs of PayPal's business.
• Define and devise processes, tools, and methodologies to achieve excellence in software development, testing, and deployment.
• Follow the team processes such as Agile. etc.

What You Need to Bring:

• Experience in all phases of enterprise software design, development and testing
• Expertise with Java, REST APIs with distributed services and backend systems
• Familiar with payments processing or payments domain
• Expertise in systems integration
• Knowledge of messaging/queuing protocols/systems such as Kafka a major plus
