CT TechnologistUnder the direction of the radiologist, performs appropriate diagnostic exams and studies to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.Key responsibilities include:Administering ionizing radiation for diagnosisUsing professional judgment to adapt imaging proceduresSelecting appropriate patient care plansSelecting appropriate shielding and immobilization devicesEvaluating lab values prior to administering contrast mediaAssessing factors that may contraindicate the procedureReconfirming patient identification and verifying procedure requestedRecognizing significant clinical information and historical factsMonitoring patient and equipment during proceduresDocumenting patient and exam occurrences in the appropriate software databaseQuality of care includes:Providing evidence-based care to prevent healthcare acquired conditions and hospital readmissionsPracticing standard precautions during patient contact and while handling contaminated materialsComplying with CDC hand hygiene guidelines to reduce hospital acquired infectionsComplying with all regulatory, organizational, and departmental statutes, policies, and proceduresQualifications include:Graduate of an American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) ProgramBLS through American Heart Association or American Red CrossCT certification through ARRT or required within 9 months of hireCurrent CT registration and licensure by the Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS)Current registration and licensure by the ARRTEducation preferred from an educational institution approved by ARRT, Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JCERT), or the American College of Radiology (ACR).Exposure Category I: Expected duties have routine potential for exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues. Other potential hazards: exposure to chemical, biological, and radioactive substances; possible exposure to hostile individuals.Work requirements include:Effective oral and written communication skillsAbility to manage technical business equipmentAbility to assist with the movement/manipulation of a patient and equipment weighing up to and over 300 lbsAbility to care for patients with infectious diseasesAbility to sit, stand, walk, and bend for the duration of the scheduled shiftAbility to demonstrate concentration and visual and auditory acuity to watch monitors and follow instructions during exams
