The team supports work that improves workforce and community development, increases business recruitment, and helps Minnesota small businesses to expand into international trade Job Summary As a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting and maintaining DEED’s cloud environments, middleware systems, and applications to ensure high availability and performance. This role will manage cloud infrastructure with Infrastructure as Code (primarily Terraform), automation of server configuration, manage middleware components, and install and update applications. The role involves monitoring system health, troubleshooting complex issues, and implementing configuration changes to meet evolving business and technical needs. Collaboration with architects and developers is essential for coordinating production builds and deployments. The position also provides primary support for a designated set of applications while serving as a backup for other team members through cross‑training. Strong expertise in cloud platforms, infrastructure as code (IAC), middleware technologies, system administration, and problem resolution across servers, networks, cloud infrastructure, and security systems is required. This position requires rotating on‑call weekend/night support. This position requires an employee to be onsite at 180 E 6th St, St Paul, Minnesota at least 50% of the time, with some opportunity to perform work from a telework location. Telework for Minnesota IT Services is available on a limited basis. Employees will be required to meet current telework eligibility requirements. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications T o qualify, candidates must clearly show all of the following qualifications in their resume. Resume tips available here : Position requires a minimum of four (4) years of IT related experience in Windows/Linux server administration in virtual environment in the cloud. Experience must include: Knowledge of automation and configuration tools, primarily Terraform, Ansible, and PowerShell DSC. Knowledge of scripting languages like PowerShell, Bash. Network and firewall configuration and maintenance. Windows and Linux server administration. Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a manner that facilitates mutual understanding. Customer‑focused approach grounded in active listening, empathy, and solution‑oriented problem‑solving to deliver positive user experiences. Education in Information Technology (IT) or an IT related field may substitute for experience as follows: a master’s degree for eighteen (18) months of experience; a bachelor’s degree for one (1) year; and an associate’s degree for six (6) months. Strongly Preferred Qualifications Experience creating Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) Pipelines with GitHub Actions. Experience with source control systems like Git and/or Azure DevOps. Experience with cloud based web application firewalls (WAF) and load balancing.
