This position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and upgrading computer hardware and software to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime. The technician will work closely with end-users to provide technical support, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective solutions. Additionally, the role involves maintaining accurate records of repairs and configurations, as well as recommending improvements to systems and processes. Ultimately, the Computer Technician ensures that all computing resources are reliable, secure, and aligned with the organization's operational needs.Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree or technical certification in Computer Technology or related field preferred.Proven experience in computer hardware and software troubleshooting and repair.Familiarity with Windows and macOS operating systems.Basic understanding of networking concepts and protocols.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Preferred QualificationsCompTIA A+ certification or equivalent technical certification.Experience with enterprise-level IT support and ticketing systems.Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and tools.Familiarity with virtualization technologies and cloud services.Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.ResponsibilitiesDiagnose and repair hardware and software issues on desktops, laptops, and peripheral devices.Install, configure, and upgrade computer systems and software applications according to organizational standards.Provide timely technical support and guidance to end-users both remotely and on-site.Maintain and update inventory of computer equipment and software licenses.Document all service activities, including troubleshooting steps, repairs, and maintenance performed.Collaborate with IT team members to implement system upgrades and security patches.Assist in setting up new workstations and ensuring proper network connectivity.Monitor system performance and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and security.The required skills enable the Computer Technician to effectively diagnose and resolve a wide range of hardware and software issues, ensuring minimal disruption to users. Proficiency with operating systems like Windows and macOS allows the technician to install, configure, and maintain systems efficiently. Networking knowledge supports troubleshooting connectivity problems and maintaining secure communications. Preferred skills such as certifications and cybersecurity awareness enhance the technician's ability to handle complex technical challenges and contribute to the organization's overall IT security posture. Strong communication and teamwork skills facilitate clear interaction with users and collaboration with IT colleagues, ensuring smooth and effective technical support.
