Job Description:

Unit Highlights:

• The Observation Unit is a unique unit with a mix of observation and inpatients. We care for a wide range of diagnoses including Rule Out MI, CHF, Post Heart Catheterization, Renal Failure, and Stroke.

• Staffed by registered nurses, patient care technicians, and a unit coordinator, the unit emphasizes evidence-based practice, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.

• Unit consists of 36 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of approximately 4-5:1. Two patient care technicians are scheduled on both shifts, adjusted based on census. Unit leaders are available daily to support staff and patient care operations.

• We are a strategic extension of the emergency department where the goal is for observation patients to be diagnosed and treated in 30 hour or less.

• We partner with our physicians to ensure our patients receive excellent clinical care.

• Low staff turnover that allows for a wide range of experience levels and learning opportunities.

Schedule: Full-time, Three (3) 12-hour shifts

Shift: Days, 7:00 am - 7:00 pm (with weekend rotation)

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate the physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual, and lifestyle factors of patients.

• Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and standards of care, regularly evaluating and revising these plans as necessary.

• Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely, following physician orders and hospital protocols, and monitor for adverse reactions.

• Educate patients and families about health conditions, treatments, medications, and self-care strategies to promote understanding and compliance.

• Collaborate with medical staff and ancillary departments to coordinate and optimize patient care, ensuring effective communication and teamwork.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

• ? Associate of Science degree in Nursing

• Current State of Florida or Multistate licensure as a Registered Nurse

• Minimum of six (6) months of experience as a Registered Nurse

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
