Assists in procedures such as IV insertion, arterial line insertion, epidural, central line placement, and sheath removal. Completes monthly chart reviews and performance improvement measure reporting, and reports findings to the manager or director. Maintains thorough and complete records of each patient’s pre-operative and post-operative/procedural care according to established standards. Cares for specimens properly and handles their disposition according to hospital/lab policy. Makes sound judgments in referring situations beyond the scope of function to the proper person and understands relevant laws and their legal interpretations. Competently carries out activities delegated by the physician concerning medications, treatment, and diagnostic measures. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Computer skills required. Good organizational and communications skills required. Skills required to work in a critical care area as defined by the unit.
