Department RSDM-Extramural Clinics Overview New Jersey’s academic health center, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS) takes an integrated approach to educating students, providing clinical care, and conducting research, all with the goal of improving human health. Aligned with Rutgers University–New Brunswick and collaborating universitywide, RBHS includes eight schools, a behavioral health network, and five centers and institutes that focus on cancer treatment and research, neuroscience, advanced biotechnology and medicine, environmental and occupational health, and health care policy and aging research. Clinical partners include Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, Newark’s University Hospital in Newark, and other affiliates. Responsibilities Prepares room for each patient, which includes setting up instruments and supplies. Seats patients, adjusts chairs & light, drapes patients with protective covers. Takes and records vital signs on each patient at each appointment and updates medical history. Obtains doctors’ signatures/initials. Passes instruments to doctor during examination and treatment of patients. Charts results of doctors’ examination. Prepares dental materials for the dentist’s use. Maintains patient’s records in accordance with Quality Assurance Guidelines. Pours models, trims and evaluates the quality of diagnostic casts. Gives post-operative instructions to patients and dismisses them. Salary Details Minimum Salary: $25,590; Mid Range Salary: $26,090; Maximum Salary: $26,870. Life insurance coverage. Employee discount programs. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited Dental Assisting Program. Certifications/Licenses: Certification as a Dental Assistant (CDA) in the State of New Jersey. Valid Dental Radiologic Technology License issued by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. CPR Certification. Physical Demands and Work Environment Physical Demands: Standing, sitting, walking, talking or hearing required. No special vision requirements. Must be able to lift or exert force up to 10 pounds. Work Environment: No significant exposure to noise levels.
