Job Description

Urology Surgicalist Opportunity

Location: Worcester, MA

Compensation Range: $325,000 - $425,000. Please be aware that the final offer may differ within this range based on the candidate's experience, skills, qualifications, and considerations of internal equity.

Position Overview

Our organization is actively seeking two skilled and dedicated Board Eligible/Board Certified Urology Surgicalists to become part of our vibrant team. We encourage physician caregivers from all academic levels to apply and join us in our unwavering commitment to healing.

The Urology Department at our facility, in partnership with a prominent medical school, provides an exceptional opportunity for physicians to engage in a high-volume academic surgical practice. This hospital-based role focuses on the surgical and inpatient management of urological conditions, delivering urgent and emergent care for hospitalized patients, and offering surgical consultations in both the emergency department and inpatient settings.

The work schedule is designed to promote an excellent work-life balance. Physicians will have access to advanced operating room technology, 24/7 imaging services, and interventional radiology support, all within a collaborative environment that includes advanced practice providers, residents, and ancillary staff.

This position is particularly well-suited for urologists who thrive in fast-paced, acute care settings. It ensures quick access to surgical urology care, enhancing patient outcomes, reducing emergency department wait times, and minimizing the necessity for patient transfers. The selected candidate will enjoy a competitive compensation and benefits package, along with an academic appointment that reflects their experience and training. There are abundant opportunities for clinical, basic, translational, and health-related quality research within our dynamic academic environment. This unique Urology Surgicalist role allows for a focus on impactful inpatient care without the responsibilities of an outpatient practice, while also providing significant avenues for professional development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct inpatient and emergency department urology consultations.
  • Perform intra-operative consultations.
  • Manage urgent and emergent urologic procedures and surgeries, such as obstructing stones, gross hematuria, testicular torsion, urologic trauma, and urinary retention.
  • Deliver comprehensive care for hospitalized urology patients, including post-operative management.
  • Collaborate closely with hospitalists, intensivists, emergency medicine physicians, and surgical subspecialists.
  • Engage in surgical quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs.
  • Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • May supervise or mentor medical students, residents, or advanced practice providers.
Qualifications
  • MD or DO from an accredited medical institution.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Urology.
  • Eligible for medical licensure in Massachusetts.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and decision-making abilities.
  • Comfortable managing high-acuity urologic emergencies in a hospital environment.
Why Join Us?

Our medical center is a leading regional academic institution that offers cutting-edge surgical services and is deeply committed to outstanding patient care. Many of our physicians serve as both clinicians and faculty members, bridging the gap between clinical practice and academic research across various specialties.

We prioritize continuous learning and professional development, investing in the growth of our physicians. As a Lean organization, we are dedicated to ongoing innovation.

Application Process

Interested candidates are encouraged to submit a letter of interest along with their curriculum vitae.

Commitment to Diversity

We are dedicated to fostering a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. Creating a diverse environment of educators and clinicians who bring unique insights and perspectives is essential to our mission. We are actively engaged in initiatives with our academic partner to enhance diversity within our medical group in the spirit of inclusivity.
