OHSU Audiology Externship

This is a 12‑month 4th year externship beginning June 2027 at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon. The externship is offered through collaboration between the Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, and the Child Development and Rehabilitation Center, which are all part of Oregon Health and Science University. The audiology extern will participate as a long‑term trainee in the Leadership in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities program, attending weekly interdisciplinary seminars, participating in community outreach projects, and completing and presenting a research project. Externs will gain clinical experience in a wide variety of audiologic services, including diagnostic evaluations of infants, children, adolescents and adults, hearing aid services (pediatric and adult), bone anchored hearing systems (pediatric and adult), auditory brainstem response evaluations, interdisciplinary evaluation of children with developmental disabilities and unique medical conditions, ototoxicity monitoring, vestibular assessment and cochlear implants (pediatric and adult). We are seeking applicants who have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and who are strongly motivated to provide exceptional service and care to individuals and families. The audiology extern candidate must be enrolled in an accredited Doctor of Audiology program. Successful candidates should demonstrate the ability to work within a fast‑paced setting and work closely with other clinicians.
