Travel Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights; Weekend Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years required License: RN License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP required; preference for intermediate or advanced FHM Must-Have: Must have LDRP experience. Must be comfortable attending deliveries independently and circulating in C-sections. Must be comfortable assisting with catching and transitioning babies.

Description: The unit has a total of 34 labor and delivery beds. There are 2 OR suites for C-sections and 2 triage beds. The postpartum area has 14 beds. On average, there are 150-180 births per month, totaling 2133 deliveries in 2022. Nurse-to-patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines of 1:2 in Labor and Delivery and 1:3-4 in couplets. RNs are required to titrate drips, including Magnesium, Pitocin, and Insulin. There is a surgical tech available 24/7, along with a patient care assistant with clerical duties on each shift. OB/GYN hospitalists and NNPs are in-house 24/7 to assist with triaging patients and managing emergent cases. Anesthesia providers are also available 24/7. The unit is equipped with RT equipment and has telemonitoring capabilities. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend, and holiday shifts are rotated with permanent staff. When placed on standby, the response time is 45 minutes. Labors and deliveries must be manageable across the mother-baby and postpartum unit, with competencies in transitioning babies and attending low-risk deliveries. Feedback from management is encouraged, and travelers are expected to be adaptable to workflows and procedures. Floating to other units is not permitted.
