Kelly Tours is looking for a new member of our hard working and close knit team to diagnose, repair, and preform routine maintenance on our fleet of mini buses in Charleston. This teammate should be proud of their work and take ownership of ensuring our fleet of vehicles are safe and reliable for daily operations.
Requirements:This team member is responsible for:
- Performing routine preventive maintenance and inspections on mini buses
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and drivability issues.
- Conduct annual DOT inspections
- Troubleshoot check-engine lights, electrical problems, starting/charging issues, and other electrical concerns.
- Keep accurate records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance performed.
- Identify potential mechanical problems before they result in vehicle breakdowns or service interruptions.
- Respond to vehicle breakdowns and maintenance issues when needed.
- Assist with roadside or mobile repairs when necessary.
- Coordinate with the Operations and Dispatch teams regarding vehicle availability and maintenance needs.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all company safety procedures and applicable DOT, state, and federal requirements.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Assist with maintaining an adequate inventory of commonly used parts and supplies.
- Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as an automotive, fleet, diesel, or commercial vehicle technician preferred.
- Experience working on gas-powered mini buses, transit vans, or similar vehicles preferred.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical problems.
- Ability to read and understand vehicle maintenance manuals and service information.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- CDL with passenger endorsement is a plus but not required.
- Must be able to work independently and manage maintenance priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to vehicle safety.
- Dependable, punctual, and willing to respond to occasional after-hours maintenance issues.
- Ability to communicate effectively with drivers, dispatchers, managers, and other employees.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry parts, tools, and equipment.
- Ability to work underneath and around vehicles.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work in various positions for extended periods.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to safely operate shop equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
Preferred Experience
Experience with the following is a plus:
- Ford E-Series and Transit chassis
- Gas-powered mini buses
- Hydraulic and air brake systems
- Commercial vehicle electrical systems
- Vehicle diagnostic scanners
- Preventive maintenance programs
- DOT vehicle inspections and maintenance requirements
