Job Details Job ID: 5601421 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Posted: Mar 23, 2026 6:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: Aug 7, 2026 Job Description Gering Public Schools is looking for a candidate to join our Special Education team in Early Childhood for the 2026-2027 school year! The Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Teacher is responsible for providing special education services to infants, toddlers (birth to age 3), and preschool-age children (ages 3–5) who qualify under IDEA Part C and Part B. This role includes developing and implementing Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), delivering developmentally appropriate instruction, collaborating with families and service providers, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. Key Responsibilities For Birth to Age 3 (Part C – Early Intervention) Conduct developmental screenings and assessments in natural environments (e.g., home, daycare). Collaborate with families and multidisciplinary teams to develop IFSPs. Provide direct services such as special instruction, developmental support, and family coaching. Monitor child progress and adjust strategies based on data and family input. Partner with Early Intervention service coordinators to support family goals. Facilitate smooth transitions to preschool special education services. For Preschool (Ages 3–5, Part B) Conduct evaluations and assist with eligibility determinations for special education services. Develop and implement IEPs tailored to the developmental needs of each child. Provide specially designed instruction in inclusive or self-contained settings. Use evidence-based practices to support language, cognitive, social-emotional, motor, and adaptive skill development. Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists (OT, PT, SLP), paraprofessionals, and families. Maintain accurate records, progress reports, and communication logs. General Duties Maintain compliance with IDEA regulations and district policies. Participate in team meetings, IFSP/IEP meetings, and professional development activities. Support child find activities and transitions between services. Advocate for inclusive practices and support a positive, nurturing environment. Incorporate culturally responsive and trauma-informed approaches. Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Special Education or related field. Nebraska teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement in Early Childhood Special Education (or ability to obtain). Knowledge of early childhood development, early intervention, and special education laws and practices. Strong collaboration, communication, and documentation skills.
