Registered Respiratory Therapist

This full-time, on-site Registered Respiratory Therapist role is based at BridgePoint Continuing Care Hospital in New Orleans, LA. The Registered Respiratory Therapist will assess, plan, and provide respiratory care to patients with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions, including administering oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, chest physiotherapy, and ventilator support. Daily responsibilities include performing diagnostic tests such as arterial blood gas sampling, monitoring patients’ responses to therapy, adjusting treatment plans in collaboration with physicians, and accurately documenting all interventions. The therapist will participate in multidisciplinary rounds, educate patients and families on respiratory conditions and home-care techniques, and help develop and implement respiratory care protocols. The role also includes maintaining respiratory equipment, adhering to infection control and safety standards, and supporting quality improvement initiatives within the respiratory care department. Qualifications Demonstrated expertise in Respiratory Therapy and Respiratory Care, including assessment, treatment planning, and delivery of evidence-based interventions. Strong Cardiopulmonary knowledge to manage patients with complex ventilatory and hemodynamic needs across post-acute and critical care settings. Experience or training in Neonatal Intensive Care or pediatric respiratory support is preferred for candidates working with specialized populations. Solid understanding of core Medicine principles relevant to respiratory care, including pharmacology, pathophysiology, and diagnostic interpretation. Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential; active state licensure (or eligibility) in Louisiana; current BLS certification, with ACLS and PALS preferred. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team, communicate clearly with patients, families, and colleagues, and provide respectful, culturally sensitive care. Experience in post-acute, long-term acute care, or hospital-based settings is beneficial; willingness to work variable shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed. #J-18808-Ljbffr BridgePoint Healthcare
