The Certified Veterinary Technician with Surgery Experience plays a critical role in supporting routine surgical procedures and patient care within a veterinary clinic. Working closely with a supportive team of veterinary technicians, this position involves preparing for surgeries, monitoring anesthesia, managing medical records, and educating clients, ensuring the highest standard of care throughout the surgical process. There is a clear career advancement pathway toward lead technician or supervisory roles, and the technician will utilize standard veterinary clinic software daily. No travel is required for this role.

 

Responsibilities

• Prepare surgical areas and equipment for procedures
• Monitor anesthesia and vital signs during surgery
• Provide comprehensive patient care including restraint and medication administration
• Manage medical records and document surgical intake and discharge
• Sterilize surgical instruments and equipment
• Communicate effectively with clients about procedures, post-op care, and vaccine protocols
• Respond promptly to emergencies and abnormal surgical vitals
• Collaborate with the veterinary team to ensure smooth operations
• Perform blood draws, IV catheter placements, intubation, and extubation
• Oversee appointment intake and surgical discharge processes

 

Required Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Veterinary Technology or related field

 

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in veterinary technology
