Health Aide Starting Date: Jul 17, 2026 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Support HUSD Vision, Mission and Goals. Establish and maintain student health records, emergency information, and a daily log of all students visiting the health and first aid office. Maintain physical files and electronic records. Respond to all student and staff injuries and illnesses. Monitor students with chronic health conditions and administer treatments as per District policy. Administer medication, prescription or over‑the‑counter, in compliance with District policy. Maintain complete and accurate medication records to ensure comprehensive student health records. Record and update individual student records regarding screenings, immunizations, etc. Prepare immunization report for submission to the State. Enter all student contacts into the student information system. Conduct hearing/vision screenings for current students and all new students. Prepare an annual screening report. Complete or assist in completing incident reports for accidents where a child is sent home for observation or medical treatment. Follow universal precautions and infection control procedures for any perceived infectious or contagious disease. Report any unsafe environmental conditions to the school administration. Attend periodic health in‑service training programs and/or school faculty meetings to receive or convey information as required. Assist in duplicating and distributing educational and instructional materials on health‑related issues to teachers, parents, and students upon request or assignment. Safeguard and maintain confidentiality of student and staff information accessible in the school or District. Perform other related duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma. At least 2 years of medical experience with medical certification preferred but not required (medical assistant, physician’s assistant, EMT, etc.). Current CPR and First Aid certifications required (no online classes). Excellent customer service and organizational skills, compassionate, patient, adaptable, and able to assess situations and determine priorities. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel); experience with student information system software and willingness to learn new software. Pass background and reference checks as stipulated by District standards. Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Frequent communication with parents, students, and staff. Move about on foot within the building. Remain in a stationary position (standing or sitting) at least 50% of the time. Operate computer, office equipment, and medical equipment. Raise or lower objects between 25–50 lbs. Frequently bend downward and forward at the waist; full use of lower extremities and back muscles. Extend hands and arms in any direction. Maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing, or crouching on narrow or slippery surfaces. Seize, hold, grasp, turn, or otherwise work with hands. Require close visual acuity for data analysis, transcription, computer use, and extended reading. TERM OF EMPLOYMENT Full‑Time Position – 10 months – 40 hours per week Monday – Friday. SALARY CLASSIFICATION Appropriate salary placement on the Classified Hourly Salary Schedule. EVALUATION Performance evaluated by District Administrator and according to District Policy. WORK ENVIRONMENT The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
