Environmental Health & Safety ManagerCleveland - Cleveland, OH 44103OverviewSalary Range $90,000.00 - $115,000.00 Salary Position Type Full Time Job Shift 1st Shift Education Level Bachelor's Degree Travel Percentage None Category ManagementDescriptionSummary: The Safety (EHS) Manager will be responsible for effectively managing all Safety, Health and Environmental (SH&E) activities for the entire facility and will drive improvement through utilization of the key principles of the Continuous Improvement Program, SMART (Streamlined Manufacturing Activities to Reduce Time and Cost). Position requires a person that can facilitate and drive results through leveraging strong interpersonal skills.Essential Duties And Responsibilities:Below is a general overview of the key responsibilities:Environmental, Health, Safety and Security ManagementManage programs that assure compliance with all federal, state and local SH&E regulations.Partner with HR and Ops on the development and maintenance of programs, processes and procedures that assure compliance with SIFCOs safety standards.Be an integral part of the plant leadership team which requires coordination and interaction with other department managers.Partner with departments to drive safety projects to completion.Take a hands-on approach to minimize hazards utilizing the Hierarchy of Controls.Drive the safety-first culture and engage all employees.Serve as site champion for the plant safety committee. Works with supervisors and team leads to empower safety knowledge, discipline and compliance throughout the facility.Lead incident investigations as needed and track corrective actions.Minimize use of SH&E contractors and manage activities to ensure compliance.Position the facilities for long-term success which includes contributing to the development of facility SH&E annual operating and strategic plans.Manage all Property Protection systems and ensure regularly scheduled/required testing is completed annually, as well as manage and interact with annual Property Insurance inspectors.Conduct required environmental, health and safety training for management and hourly employees.Participate in the review of projects as required for compliance to SH&E standards. Manage Process Hazard Analysis.Prepare periodic internal and external safety and environmental reporting documents as required.All other duties as assigned.Supervisory Responsibilities:This role does not have direct supervision responsibility but will need to manage resources through facilitation and project and program management.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Education and/or ExperienceBachelors degree in engineering or equivalent experience in heavy manufacturing/ forging; Masters degree in engineering, operations management or business desirable5+ years safety management experience in a manufacturing settingTraining in and previous experience utilizing LEAN, Six Sigma and Theories of Constraints tools and methodologiesAdvanced problem solving, facilitation and project management skillsExcellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skillsStrong proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAPExperience with Program Management in manufacturing environmentHighly motivated, self-directed, creative, innovative and people orientedDemonstrated focus on program schedule commitments / cost awarenessExperience in a union environment is a plusAwareness of various quality systems and compliance is a plusMaintenance / Facilities management experience desiredLanguage SkillsAbility to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.Mathematical SkillsAbility to apply advanced mathematical concepts such an exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis.Reasoning AbilityAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
