Production Supervisor, Nights

Position Description The Production Supervisor will drive production and manufacturing results through ownership and accountability, ensuring budgeted performance is reached on all lines. This role will meet line performance objectives, manage changeover and washout timelines, limit downtime, work with maintenance to coordinate operations/maintenance handshakes, adhere to preventive maintenance programs, and implement systems for sustainable improvements in production efficiencies. Schedule Nights, 5:30 pm – 6:30 am, 2‑2‑3 shift pattern. Essential Functions Ensure compliance with health and safety policies, GMPs, and PPE requirements. Maintain compliance with food quality and food safety standards such as SQF. Lead and direct the work of other employees, delegating authority for personnel decisions. Conduct daily meetings with shift leads to identify and resolve issues. Create and post weekly employee schedules based on production needs. Collaborate with all departments to improve quality, drive efficiencies, increase yields, and eliminate out‑of‑spec or damaged products. Maintain operational knowledge of manufacturing processes and ancillary equipment. Perform and provide training on efficient changeovers, ensuring correct settings and parts are installed. Record all necessary production and quality data, keeping accurate downtime reports. Understand and apply SQF and HACCP principles to address related inquiries. Read and interpret production schedules and SOPs; communicate issues or deviations to appropriate parties. Detect visual and auditory cues indicating production or machine issues. Perform minor machine maintenance and daily/weekly preventive maintenance. Conduct required GEMBA walks through the plant. Execute all end‑of‑shift duties to ensure smooth transition for the incoming shift. Provide training and cross‑training to maintain production schedules within budget and quality standards. May oversee a specific plant area such as blow molding. Requirements Experience in a fast‑moving packaged goods or beverage production environment. Solid understanding of production machinery/forklifts and awareness of technical issues. Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure. Forklift certification may be required. Availability for shift work. Commitment to continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and process efficiency. Proficiency in troubleshooting to minimize downtime and waste. Accurate documentation of production data and maintenance of organized records. Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures; enforcement of safety protocols; timely completion of monthly Alchemy training. Effective verbal and written communication with team members and supervisors. Ability to train new hires and develop existing team members. Leadership skills to inspire and motivate a team and resolve conflicts. Ownership mindset: self‑directed and proactive in taking responsibility. Time‑management skills to multitask and prioritize tasks to meet production deadlines. Education and Experience Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent (GED). Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Food Science, Business, or a related discipline preferred. Minimum 3‑5 years of experience within a manufacturing environment, preferably beverages. Prior SAP experience is a strong asset. Working Conditions Rapid, demanding environment requiring concentrated attention amid changing stimuli. Repetitive workspace with noise levels that may require hearing protection. Temperature variations; work may get very hot or relatively cold. Structured production targets and schedules. Floor presence expectation of minimum 75%. Travel Requirements Rare travel anticipated.
