Senior Counsel I

WMATA (The “Company”) has engaged Major, Lindsey & Africa on an exclusive basis to conduct a search for a Senior Counsel I. Company: WMATA was created by an interstate compact in 1967 to plan, develop, build, finance, and operate a balanced regional transportation system in the national capital area. Today, Metrorail serves 98 stations and has 128 miles of track. Metrobus serves the nation's capital 24 hours a day, seven days a week with a fleet of more than 1,500 buses. Metrorail and Metrobus serve a population of approximately four million within a 1,500-square mile jurisdiction consisting of the District of Columbia, the suburban counties of Montgomery and Prince George’s and the Northern Virginia counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, and the cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, and Falls Church. Overview: The Senior Counsel I will provide legal support and advice on a wide range of government contracting matters to Contracting Officers in Rail, Bus and Information Technology procurements. Experience: The ideal candidate should have 5 to 8 years of directly transferable experience advising clients on government contract matters, with substantial knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation ("FAR") and, ideally, some exposure to large scale transportation, transit, technology, and/or construction procurement projects. This experience will have been acquired as an attorney at a law firm with a reputable government contracts practice or as an attorney within a government agency. Location/Relocation: Washington, D.C.
