Respiratory Therapist

The Respiratory Therapist will provide high-quality respiratory care to patients across all age groups, including neonatal through geriatric populations. Responsibilities include:

• Assist with bronchoscopies as needed
• Perform nighttime and daytime SAT/SBT responsibilities
• Provide routine respiratory care and respond to emergency situations
• Support Level II Nursery with bubble CPAP and mechanical ventilation
• Engage in pediatric care during RSV season, utilizing high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
• Participate in emergency responses for codes, traumas, and severe respiratory distress
• Float within the scope of practice to meet facility needs

Applicants must meet the following qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience required; first-timers accepted
• Active State License required (Pending licenses not accepted)
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, RRT
• Comfortable floating to other units as required

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

• Airway Management: Endotracheal tube/suctioning, extubation, intubation assistance
• Mediation Administration: Knowledge of medications such as Albuterol, Combivent, and others
• Nebulizer Skills: Cold, hand-held, heated, and trach collar nebulizers
• Oxygen Therapy Skills: Bag and mask, ET tube, HFNC, trach collar
• Ventilator Management: Experience troubleshooting alarms and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Pediatric/Neonatal Care: Experience with bubble CPAP, capillary blood gases, and tracheostomy care
• Professional Knowledge: ABG interpretation and chest physiotherapy
• Charting Experience: Familiarity with Cerner

The Respiratory Therapist may occasionally be required to be on-call during the months of December to April. The facility allows for discussions regarding schedule requests with management to accommodate block scheduling preferences. There are no restrictions on local applicants regarding distance.

This is an acute care hospital setting with a Level II Trauma center designation. The facility supports a comprehensive respiratory care unit and emphasizes teamwork and high standards in patient care.
