Housekeeping Aide / Environmental Services (EVS) Technician

Position Summary The Housekeeping Aide is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, safe, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors within the skilled nursing facility. This position performs routine cleaning and disinfecting of resident rooms, common areas, offices, and other facility spaces in accordance with facility policies, infection control standards, OSHA regulations, and Florida healthcare requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Clean and sanitize resident rooms, bathrooms, hallways, dining areas, offices, nursing stations, and common areas. Dust, sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors and furniture. Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces using approved cleaning products. Empty trash and biohazard waste containers and dispose of waste according to facility procedures. Replenish paper products, soap, sanitizer, and other supplies. Clean windows, mirrors, fixtures, and equipment as assigned. Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, and damaged equipment to the supervisor. Follow infection prevention and control procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Assist with terminal cleaning of resident rooms following discharge, transfer, or isolation precautions. Maintain housekeeping carts, equipment, and storage areas in a clean and organized manner. Respond promptly to spills and emergency cleaning situations. Interact courteously and respectfully with residents, families, visitors, and staff. Follow all facility policies, HIPAA privacy requirements, and safety regulations. Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous housekeeping experience in a healthcare, nursing home, hospital, hotel, or similar setting preferred. Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions. Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and infection control practices preferred. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Reliable attendance and punctuality required. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for extended periods. Ability to push and pull housekeeping carts and equipment. Ability to lift and carry up to 25–50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to work around cleaning chemicals and odors. Ability to perform repetitive motions throughout the workday. Working Conditions Skilled nursing and long-term care environment. Exposure to cleaning chemicals, infectious materials, and bodily fluids while following proper safety procedures. May require weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts.
