OverviewVTG is looking for a Systems Engineer- Architecture in Chantilly, VA. (Note: Contingent upon program award).Junior Systems Engineer- Architecture supports NRO programs by assisting in the development and documentation of system and mission architectures. This role focuses on understanding mission needs, supporting architectural products, and maintaining traceability across requirements, interfaces, and system elements.Mid-Level Systems Engineer- Architecture supports NRO programs by assisting in the development and documentation of system and mission architectures. This role focuses on understanding mission needs, supporting architectural products, and maintaining traceability across requirements, interfaces, and system elements.Senior Systems Engineer- Architecture serves as an architecture lead for NRO programs, responsible for shaping, evaluating, and governing mission and enterprise architectures across complex systems. This role provides technical leadership, ensures architectural coherence, and advises government leadership on system design, integration, and long‑term evolution.What will you do?Junior Systems Engineer- ArchitectureAssist in development and documentation of system and segment architecturesSupport creation and maintenance of architecture views (operational, system, and technical)Assist with requirements allocation and traceability across architectural elementsSupport interface identification and documentation across system boundariesParticipate in technical reviews and architecture working groupsMaintain architecture artifacts, diagrams, and baseline documentationMid-Level Systems Engineer- ArchitectureDevelop and analyze end‑to‑end system architectures supporting mission objectivesDefine and manage interfaces, dependencies, and integration points across systemsAllocate requirements to architectural elements and ensure traceabilitySupport trade studies and architecture alternatives analysisContribute to lifecycle and readiness reviews from an architectural perspectiveSupport technical governance forums and architecture review boardsSenior Systems Engineer- ArchitectureLead development of mission, system, and enterprise architecturesDefine architectural principles, standards, and constraints across programsOversee allocation of requirements and interfaces across complex system‑of‑systems environmentsLead architecture trade studies and technical risk assessmentsSupport senior‑level technical reviews, readiness assessments, and decision forumsMentor junior and mid‑level engineers in architecture developmentServe as a trusted technical advisor to government program and enterprise leadershipDo you have what it takes?TS/SCI with Poly RequiredJunior Systems Engineer- Architecture1-4 years of systems engineering or technical architecture support experienceFoundational understanding of systems engineering principlesExposure to architecture frameworks or modeling concepts (e.g., SysML, DoDAF views)Ability to interpret and document system relationships, interfaces, and dependenciesBachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering, Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical disciplineMid-Level Systems Engineer- Architecture5-9 years of systems engineering experience with significant architecture development responsibilityStrong understanding of systems architecture principles and lifecycle processesExperience developing architecture products (logical, physical, and functional views)Familiarity with modeling tools and structured architecture frameworksAbility to collaborate across engineering, integration, and mission stakeholdersBachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; Master’s degree may substitute for experiencePreferred Qualifications: Experience supporting IC or DoD programs Senior Systems Engineer- ArchitectureBachelor’s degree in in Systems Engineering, Engineering, or related technical discipline; Master’s degree preferred10+ years of systems engineering experience with primary emphasis on architecture developmentDemonstrated experience leading architecture efforts for IC, NRO, or comparable national security programsExpert knowledge of systems architecture and lifecycle engineeringExperience with system‑of‑systems architecture and enterprise integrationProficiency with architecture frameworks, modeling approaches, and technical governanceStrong leadership and stakeholder engagement capabilitiesPay Range: VTG’s estimated starting pay range is $105,000 - $210,000 annually, which is a general guideline for and depending on the geographic location. When extending an offer, VTG also considers work experience, education, skill level, market considerations and may possibly include contractual requirements which may cause an offer to fall outside of this range
