Manual Machinist

Peoplelink Staffing Solutions is seeking a Manual Machinist in partnership with a prominent client in Conklin, NY within the machining industry.


Summary:
Pay: $25 - $28 per hour
Shift: 1st 6am - 6pm / 2nd 6pm - 6am


Machinist Responsibilities:
• Maintain, repair, fabricate, and modify plant tooling and machinery.
• Set up and operate different types of machinery to produce precise metal components.
• Perform manual precision grinding on tooling and components, holding tight tolerances for surface finish and dimension.
• Modify and manufacture parts for machine tools and industrial equipment, using knowledge of mechanical systems, math, material properties, and machining techniques.
• Utilize pneumatic, electric, and manual hand tools to maintain or repair production equipment and tooling.
• Apply knowledge of tool & die making to troubleshoot issues with worn or damaged tools, restoring them to functional condition or redesigning for improved performance.
• Operate standard machine shop equipment to shape materials into exact specifications.
• Interpret engineering blueprints to machine components and, when necessary, develop drawings with measurements for fabricated parts.
• Manage the tooling inventory, including ordering replacement parts and supplies.
• Meet and maintain key performance indicators, continuously seeking ways to optimize processes and performance.
• Identify inefficiencies such as wasted time, materials, or labor, and contribute to improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with team members to resolve technical issues, share best practices, and provide feedback or training as needed.
• Consult with engineering, leadership, and operations staff to share and obtain technical information.
• Participate in company recycling and hazardous waste handling programs.
• Keep the work area safe and orderly through routine maintenance, 5S practices, and daily cleaning.
• Provide shift coverage and support to coworkers when necessary.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.


Machinist Qualifications and Requirements:
• High School Diploma/GED
• Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience as a machinist or tool and die maker in a manufacturing environment.
• Skilled in close-tolerance precision grinding.
• Demonstrated ability to build, maintain, and repair stamping dies, forming tools, jigs, and fixtures.
• Completion of an apprenticeship or relevant technical training is a plus.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective communicator and team player, capable of working independently or collaboratively across departments.
• Ability to use basic computer systems for data entry, part tracking, or accessing engineering documents.
• Support compliance with food safety standards including BRC, GMPs, and HACCP
• Must be flexible to work varying schedules including 8- or 12-hour shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
