Senior Manager - US Property Accounting

Manager/Senior Manager Property Accounting Job Summary: The Manager/ Senior Manager Property Accounting is responsible for leading large-scale property accounting operations across residential portfolios. This role drives operational excellence, client satisfaction, financial accuracy, compliance, team performance, and strategic growth initiatives. The Senior Manager/General Manager will oversee service delivery, manage key client relationships, and lead transitions and onboarding of new portfolios. Key Responsibilities 1. Operations Management Lead end-to-end property accounting operations across multiple residential portfolios. Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Establish and monitor KPIs, SLAs, and performance dashboards. Ensure timely preparation and review of: Financial statements Bank & balance sheet reconciliations Rent rolls & lease audits Accruals & prepaid schedules Cash flow statements Drive budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes. Implement strong internal controls, audit readiness processes, and risk mitigation strategies. Standardize SOPs across teams and ensure documentation compliance. Optimize team structure, resource allocation, and workload balancing. Drive automation initiatives and system improvements (Yardi, AppFolio, MRI, RealPage, etc.). Monitor quality assurance reviews and implement corrective action plans. Manage profitability, cost control, and productivity metrics. Lead cross-functional collaboration with AP, AR, Treasury, and Reporting teams. 2. Client Management Serve as primary escalation and relationship owner for key clients. Conduct regular business review meetings (MBRs/QBRs) with clients. Present financial reports, KPIs, and performance insights. Proactively identify improvement opportunities and value-added services. Ensure SLA adherence and service excellence. Manage client expectations and resolve operational challenges. Handle complex accounting issues, audit queries, and compliance matters. Drive client retention and expansion strategies. Support RFP responses, proposals, and pricing discussions. Maintain strong stakeholder communication across asset managers, property managers, and ownership groups. 3. Transition & Onboarding Management Lead end-to-end transition of new clients and property portfolios. Conduct due diligence and risk assessment during migration. Develop detailed transition plans, timelines, and resource strategies. Oversee knowledge transfer sessions and documentation review. Ensure smooth system setup, chart of accounts alignment, and data migration. Monitor parallel runs and stabilization phases post-go-live. Identify gaps in legacy processes and implement improvements. Coordinate with IT and system teams for configuration and integrations. Ensure zero disruption to financial reporting timelines during transitions. Drive post-transition review and stabilization reporting. 4. Team Leadership & Development Lead and mentor Accounting Managers and Team Leads. Develop succession planning and leadership pipelines. Conduct performance evaluations and coaching sessions. Drive employee engagement and retention strategies. Promote a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement. Qualifications & Experience Bachelors / Master degree in Accounting or Finance 12+ years of accounting experience with 3-5 years in leadership roles. Strong expertise in US Residential Property Accounting. Experience managing large teams Strong knowledge of property management systems (Yardi, AppFolio, MRI, RealPage ).
