Athletic Trainer

The Athletic Trainer specializes in the health care of musculoskeletal and orthopedic injuries. The trainer plays a unique role in assisting in the orthopedic clinic, specializing in casting, splinting and bracing of patients under the direction of the Orthopedic Surgeon. They play a role in rooming the patient and establishing a clear mechanism of injury and medical history in the patient chart. The trainer will be scheduled to assist with the coverage of athletic events and administering care and first aid as needed at High School Athletic Events. Obtains, verifies, and records health history of patients. Coordinate and manage care of patients seen by provider including but not limited to following up and tracking testing, referrals. Stays informed of insurance requirements and guidelines for patient care. Performs prior authorizations and acts as patient advocate. Regularly monitors patients as appropriate to promote wellness and health maintenance including preventative and chronic care. Participates in the development of the plan of care with other team members and safely implements that plan. Schedules, coordinates and communicates referrals to specialist and services ordered by the provider. Assist in patient scheduling of surgical procedures and prior authorizations. Assist the Orthopedic Surgeon in the operating room with procedures under the athletic training surgical guidelines. The athletic trainer will perform patient education as directed by the physician including; crutch training, splint application, brace application. The athletic trainer will assist in donning and doffing casting applications. The position also requires assisting the physician in performing in office procedures including but not limited to joint injections, draining of fluid, ultrasound guidance. The Athletic Trainer will provide game coverage at high school athletic events. The athletic trainer will assist in providing injury clinic for injured athletes at local high schools. Experience Minimum Required Experience: clinical experience with orthopedics and acute care of injuries with patients. Preferred Experience: Two to three years. Education Minimum Required Education: bachelor’s degree in athletic training. Licenses & Certifications Minimum Required Licenses: State License, NATA Certification. Minimum Required Certifications: CPR Certification. Current state licensures as Licensed Athletic Trainer. Current NATA Certificate. #J-18808-Ljbffr
