Job Description

The Dock Worker plays a key role in safe and efficient warehouse and production operations by moving materials, loading and unloading transport vehicles, and supporting seed processing activities. This position operates forklifts and related equipment, uses warehouse management systems to track inventory, and helps maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work environment. The role requires flexibility to work any day of the week, at any time of day, for shifts up to 12 hours, in a fast-paced setting that supports agricultural production and seed delivery.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts in a professional, accident-free manner to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, and move products, equipment, and materials within the warehouse and production areas.

• Perform and document regular forklift inspections, following all regulatory and company requirements to ensure equipment is safe and in good working order.

• Use warehouse management systems (WMS) and related technology such as RF scan guns, tablets, PCs, and scanners to accurately track the location of goods and complete data entry for material handling tasks.

• Load and unload trucks, trailers, and storage areas with care, ensuring accurate handling of raw materials, seed products, and finished goods to meet customer expectations.

• Support warehouse operations including inventory handling, picking, sorting, staging, shipping and receiving, and sample collection.

Essential Skills

• Ability to safely operate forklifts in a warehouse and production environment, including sit-down forklifts and material handling equipment.

• Ability to use RF scan guns and warehouse management systems to track inventory and complete accurate data entry.

• Ability to count inventory accurately and read scales to verify quantities and weights.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, or willingness to obtain.

• Approximately 1 year of warehouse experience preferred.

• Prior forklift certification preferred; training and certification may be provided as needed.

• Experience with inventory, picking, shipping and receiving, and general warehouse operations.

Work Environment

This role is based in a warehouse and production facility that operates in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment. You will work around high racking systems and tight proximities, using sit-down forklifts, RF scan guns, PCs, scanners, and other material handling and tracking technologies. The work includes both indoor and outdoor tasks in varying weather and temperature conditions, particularly during seasonal harvesting, drying, and seed processing activities. Shifts can occur on any day of the week at any time of day and may last up to 12 hours, requiring flexibility to support changing production and delivery demands. The facility emphasizes cleanliness and organization, with regular housekeeping and equipment care expected, and a practical, work-appropriate attire suitable for warehouse and production activities.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Durant, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
