About the Position

Job Title: RN - Neonatal ICU Profession: RN Specialty: Neonatal ICU Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of strong Level 3 and/or Level 4 NICU experience. License: RN Certifications: BLS, NRP Must-Have: Must be comfortable in a high acuity, fast-paced environment. Description: The role involves working in a Neonatal ICU setting. The facility has 247 licensed beds and is a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center. The unit consists of 53 beds plus overflow, with an average patient census of 58. Patients commonly present with respiratory issues such as Respiratory Distress Syndrome and Meconium Aspiration. Cardiac conditions include Congenital Heart Defects and Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension of the Newborn. Neurological concerns may involve seizures or Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy. Gastrointestinal issues can include Necrotizing Enterocolitis and Feeding Intolerance. The patient ratios vary based on acuity, ranging from 1:1 to 1:3. Required skills include EPIC experience, management of critical care vasoactive drip titration, and management of invasive lines. Familiarity with aseptic techniques, ventilator and trach management, and feeding tube management is essential. The unit is supported by an IV/VAT/PCVC Team, Resource Nurses, and a 24/7 Intensivist. Technology used includes EMR, IV pumps, and breast milk scanning systems. Weekend rotation is required, including 2 Fridays, 2 Mondays, and every other weekend. Travelers will work holidays as scheduled, with expectations for the Eve and Day of holidays. Travelers should limit requests for time off during the contract period. Scrub colors should be navy, with restrictions on dress code to ensure professionalism. The unit culture emphasizes teamwork, trust, accountability, respect, and hard work.
