Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years minimum experience required License: NC or Compact license required Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NIH Must-Have: Experience with arterial lines and titrating vasoactive drips Telemetry and interpretation of dysrhythmias Management of dysrhythmias Use of rapid response teams IV insulin protocols Blood product administration Central and peripheral line care/management PICC line management Heparin protocols Management of respiratory distress and unstable hemodynamics Tracheostomy management Isolation precautions Description: RTO after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out on-site. Any call-offs or additional RTO on the unit could possibly lead to cancellations. No block scheduling is available. The unit functions more like an ICU, requiring strong drip experience. Target patient ratios are 1:3-4. The unit accepts 13-week length contracts and longer. 36 or 48 hours can be offered per week. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend. The patient population includes adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Common patient diagnoses include respiratory distress, unstable hemodynamics, withdrawal, GI bleeds, and post-operative care. The unit primarily has a maximum of one pressor drip per patient; additional titratable drips would necessitate transfer to ICU. Nurses must be able to recognize and treat dysrhythmias. Special equipment includes bedside telemetry monitors, BIPAPs, chest tubes, and tracheostomy care supplies. There are no ventilators on the unit. All candidates must pass EKG testing prior to starting. Must be open to floating as needed to sister units. Candidates must work 2 of 3 major holidays. RTO must be pre-approved and cannot be requested after signing. References can be pending at submission.
