Our Nuclear Propulsion Overhaul Engineering Department (E81) supports complex overhaul efforts for both Aircraft Carriers and this Engineer Mechanical 4 role you will develop engineering solutions prepare detailed technical direction and provide handson waterfront support to modernize and upgrade Reactor Plant mechanical systems during major maintenance availabilities.

What You Will Do

A successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical and problemsolving abilities to address technical challenges that arise during the overhaul of nuclear systems and components. This individual must possess effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage with both engineering and nontechnical personnel on complex technical matters. The role also requires a willingness to provide handson support aboard the ship as needed.
We are seeking motivated individuals who want to make a meaningful impact and uphold the highest technical standards expected within the Navy Nuclear Propulsion Program.
Nuclear Propulsion Overhaul Engineerings responsibilities include:

• Researching and planning processes tooling and material requirements to deliver fully engineered solutions for the execution of nuclear work.
• Developing technical work instructions including procedures and troubleshooting documentation.
• Providing onsite support and resolving issues encountered during shipboard or shop operations.
• Identifying researching and implementing innovative solutions to technical challenges.
• Managing projects from initial planning through completion.

What You Must Have

• 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field.
• Candidate must have successfully completed an undergraduate engineering degree from an ABET accredited program.
• Candidate must be proficient in the use of PCs and word processing spreadsheet presentation desktop applications and electronic mail programs and of standard test equipment to identify and isolate problems (i.e. digital meters oscilloscopes strain and pressure gauges).
• Must be proficient in SAP.
• Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must be able to obtain a confidential security clearance.

Physical Requirements

Office industrial or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving of materials not to exceed the guidelines set for one man lift.
