Travel PCU Registered Nurse - $2,329 per week

TNAA TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Beckley, West Virginia. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit Discipline: RN Duration: 13 weeks 42 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel As a PCU Travel Nurse, you will care for patients who require close monitoring and frequent assessment, but aren't unstable enough to need ICU care. You will utilize computer equipment to monitor cardiac and other vital information, enabling intervention for life‑threatening or emergency situations. Monitoring is critical as many PCU patients receive complex medications, sometimes IV, that require adjustment or titration. The PCU RN may also be called a step‑down nurse; the unit can be cardiac, medical, neuro, surgical step‑down, or ER holding. Responsibilities Provide basic bedside care and stabilize critical cardiac patients. Change dressings, insert catheters, and start IVs. Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions. Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients, interpreting and recording electronic displays. Initiate corrective action when monitoring equipment indicates adverse symptomatology. PCU Travel Nurses should be able to stand and walk for long periods, bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty. RNs should lift up to 20 pounds easily; patient handling may require up to 50 pounds at times. The fast‑paced environment requires strong stress‑coping skills and the ability to relate to people of all ages and backgrounds. Requirements ACLS certification BLS certification PALS certification NIH certification Minimum 2 years recent acute care experience Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment. Pay package is based on 12‑hour shifts and 42 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax‑free stipend amount to be determined.
