Crisis Clinician Position Summary: Responsible for clinical evaluation and assessment of clients and their family's situation. Provide individual, family and/or group therapy, in the client's home, in other community settings or at the agency depending on the needs of the family. Responsible for maintaining clinical files and completing required progress reports. Work and cooperate with internal clinical team, school programs, referral agencies and other outside resources. - Conducts both initial and ongoing comprehensive psychosocial assessments and makes treatment recommendations, summarizes primary presenting issues, identifies child/family strengths, and formulates a diagnosis.
- Engages the child/ family collaboratively in order to create safety and stability for each family member.
- Meets with clients for individual, family and/or group therapy sessions.
- Builds rapport and credibility simultaneously with clients, family members, stakeholders, and community members.
- Develops and implements successful trauma informed intervention including identifying the treatment method, collaboratively establish treatment plans that identify issues, goals and measurable objectives that are achievable in a reasonable time frame, interventions/strategies that address the assessment issues, and maintains timely progress notes that reflect movement towards goals/objectives.
- Has knowledge of and utilizes evidence based, best practice therapeutic interventions.
- Provides effective trauma informed crisis management, including crisis counseling to children/families as needed. Participates in on call/crisis rotation as part of clinical team.
- Plans for client treatment discharge/termination including establishing treatment plans that addresses projected length of care and discharge criteria, helping the family plan and prepare for discharge needs, maintaining progress notes that reflect movement towards goals/objectives. Makes follow-up referral as needed.
- Schedules and coordinates therapy sessions.
- Provides case management support for clients as assigned.
- Conducts educational activities to promote client understanding of the impact of trauma, treatment issues including medication, diagnosis, parenting skills.
- Establishes team commitment to common goals and an environment of mutual respect and understanding; is an active member of Child and Family Team meetings.
- Maintains clinical records in a timely manner according to standards and requirements.
- Maintains professional boundaries and ethics specific to the agency and particular professional certification.
- Understands human development and family life cycle in children and families and demonstrates application of this knowledge in assessment and diagnosis.
- Interacts professionally, clearly and in a timely manner with internal and external customers, other community professionals including staffing meetings, providing consultation or advocacy representing AzCA as a trauma informed agency.
- Serves as a member of committees as assigned.
- Participates in in-service training and educational opportunities outside the agency as required and as time and resources permit.
- Provides effective client treatment with regular supervision.
- Attends and participates in all required meetings.
- Performs work and represents AzCA in accordance with our mission, vision and values and Foundations for Success.
- Maintains consistent attendance and punctuality to provide consistency in serving clients.
- Performs other duties as assigned, which are consistent with the general responsibilities of the position.
- Provides individual and family therapy to clients under age 5. Has an understanding of play therapy and how to engage a young child and family in therapy. Uses activities and measures to gain a further understanding of the consumer's limitations and needs.
- Conducts an extensive and thorough birth-5 assessment including observations and creates a measurable and cohesive plan for the team.
- Engages the child/family using fluidity techniques for taking position of different family members as needed.
- Builds rapport and credibility simultaneously with varying members/age groups. Relates to variety of individuals with warmth, empathy, acceptance and humor.
- Has extensive knowledge of the birth-5 population and uses this knowledge to engage the team and assist in creating roles for each of the members.
- Addresses neurological disorganization and works with clients, parents and caregivers to implement the NMT techniques through brain based therapeutic interventions.
- Adheres to NMT metric data and recommendations and develops/implements alternative successful and engaging brain boosting techniques, which are congruent with NMT concepts, for external clients, families, and providers.
- Provides coordination of care with clients, families, and external providers, and acts as an agency advocate in relation to NMT program metrics and concepts.
- Conducts public education to promote awareness of the NMT model and its core concepts to increase collaboration.
- Works collaboratively with program leadership to enhance effectiveness of program and metric reassessments.
- Provides comprehensive assessment and creates interim service plan for clients who are referred through Emergent intake or Integrated Rapid Response.
- May be responsible for appearances in court.
- Ensures timely follow up in compliance with AHCCCS mandated guidelines for delivery of service.
- Provides counseling services to children who have been the victim of sexual assault or abuse.
- Assists parents and caregivers as part of the Non-Offending Parent Program.
- May provide crisis or ongoing therapy services.
- Demonstrates the knowledge and application of human development.
- Ability to provide family therapy from a systems perspective.
- Ability to apply knowledge of community resources to appropriately assist client.
- Ability to work in a diverse, multi-cultural environment and be sensitive to the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
- Ability to participate as a team member, utilize supervision and able to accept peer support in the treatment planning process.
- Effective written, oral and interpersonal communication skills in the English language. Might also require Spanish.
- Must be organized with the ability to take direction, prioritize tasks, and to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Must have ability to maintain confidentiality, and exhibit sound judgment while providing emotional support.
- Ability to interact professionally with all staff and guests.
- Must be able to recognize and communicate with your supervisor to address self-care needs in order to effectively maintain all job duties.
- Ability to work in a variety of environments to include but not limited to in/outdoors with various obstacles, stairs and unknown conditions.
- Must be able to physically demonstrate competency in the following areas: operate transport vehicles as needed (unless declared a non-driver).
- Able to operate common office equipment and be proficient with electronic health records, calendaring, word processing and other needed computer and electronic device skills.
- Must be 21 years of age (licensing requirement).
- Possess a valid Arizona driver's license and be insurable under the agency's automobile policy.
- Must be able to provide own transportation to and from clients' homes and/or other relevant organizations/agencies
- Must be able to provide DPS fingerprint clearance.
- Must be able to meet training and agency compliance requirements for the position.
- An individual may qualify for this position if the individual is able to perform safely the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations. Perform safely means to perform without causing a direct threat to the health or safety of the individual or others that cannot be eliminated by reasonable accommodations, as defined by 42 U.S.C. #1211 (b) and the Commission's regulations found at 29 C.F.R #1630.2 (r).
- Master's Degree in Social Work or related field of study from an accredited college or university. Degree must be license eligible by the AZBBHE.
- Must have previous experience providing therapy to clients in an internship.
- 4 year's relevant experience to include provision of clinical services is preferred.
- Independent License required.
